Cirurgião Dentista pela Faculdade de Odontologia João Prudente (1983), mestre em Biologia e Patologia Buco-Dental pela FOP-UNICAMP (1990) e doutor em Biologia e Patologia Buco-Dental pela FOP-UNICAMP (1996). Pós-Doutoramento junto Eastman Dental Institute–University College London (1999-2001). Livre-Docente pelo Departamento de Diagnóstico Oral, da FOP-UNICAMP, onde atua como Professor Associado.

ÁREAS DE INTERESSE

• Estudar os mecanismos envolvidos na carcinogênese da mucosa bucal em modelos experimentais, especialmente os fatores preventivos e terapêuticos.
• Estudar os mecanismos de carcinogênese da mucosa bucal em humanos, especialmente o envolvimento de lesões precursoras.
• Estudar as potenciais correlações da relação 2D:4D com lesões bucais e aprendizado, bem como determinar os padrões de normalidade deste índice em populações brasileiras.
• Estudar os mecanismos de reparo ósseo sob condições de alterações sistêmicas, tais como uso de medicamentos ou desvios metabólicos.
• Avaliar a expressão de marcadores e células específicas em lesões da mucosa bucal, em particular do líquen plano.
